Objectives

The 5th EII PhD School brings research students and early career researchers [ECRs] together with experienced national and international experts to enhance and invigorate research education, and to improve the depth of understanding of emerging and fundamental topics in ICT. The EII PhD Schools offer an opportunity for PhD students and ECRs to share and discuss their research with peers and mentors, and to start developing ideas & concepts into research papers for submission to major international journals and conferences. The experience will also advance the development and raise the standard of the students’ dissertations and research publications in general.

Program

The program commences with a welcome dinner at 7.00pm Thursday 16 April, and continues for 4 days - 9am Friday 17 April to 5pm Monday 20 April - on the St Lucia Campus of The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.

Best Research Poster Awards

EII is pleased to announce Best Research Poster Awards for the 2009 School:

  • First Prize $150

  • Second Prize $100

  • Third Prize $75

  • Highly Commended $50 x 10 prizes

The winners will be announced at the Research Poster session 6.00 - 8.30pm Friday 17 April.

Delegates at the 2009 School are expected to display their current research in poster form during the event. Please bring your research poster [A3 size] with you to the School.

EII Member Applications/Registrations

Interstate Students & ECRs from EII Member Universities

The registration fee is waived for the School, and full financial support for attendance may be available from the ARC Research Network in Enterprise Information Infrastructure [EII] for successful applicants from EII-member universities. This support includes, where relevant, return economy airfare, accommodation, catering, chartered buses, and School materials. Delegates will be selected for financial support based on the relevance of their research backgrounds and interests to the School topics. To be considered for financial support, please submit an application.

Brisbane Students & ECRs from EII Member Universities

The registration fee is waived for the School, and full financial support for attendance may be available from the ARC Research Network in Enterprise Information Infrastructure [EII] for successful applicants from EII-member universities. This support includes catering and School materials. To be considered for financial support, please submit an application.

Other Registrations

Students & ECRs from other Australian Universities

The registration fee is $220 for the School. This charge includes welcome dinner, School catering and School materials. Please submit a registration.

DASFAA 2009

The DASFAA 2009 conference is pleased to offer EII 2009 PhD School delegates a discounted registration only rate of $220 to attend the conference which is being held from 21-23 April 2009, also on the St Lucia Campus of The University of Queensland.
